Job summary

St. Joseph’s Outpatient Surgery Center in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a hands-on Pre-Op/PACU Nurse Manager to lead our preoperative and post-anesthesia recovery teams. This working manager role combines clinical duties with departmental leadership.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years in Pre-Op/PACU or perioperative nursing, Arizona RN licensure, and strong Phase I/II recovery experience, plus BLS/ACLS. Flexible scheduling and collaborative leadership are offered in a fast-paced ASC environment.

Qualifications

• Current Arizona RN license or eligibility.
• Minimum five years of Pre-Op, PACU, or perioperative nursing experience.
• Strong Phase I and Phase II recovery experience.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities (Charge Nurse, team lead or management).
• Experience coordinating staffing and patient flow.
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Preferred: Ambulatory Surgery Center experience and overnight recovery services.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on nursing care and clinical support as needed.
• Manage daily operations of Pre-Op and PACU.
• Develop and maintain staffing schedules for both departments.
• Coordinate staffing adjustments, call-outs, and daily coverage needs.
• Oversee the overnight Recovery Care Center.
• Promote efficient patient flow, timely recovery, and safe discharge.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and nursing leadership.
• Mentor, coach, and support nursing staff.
• Maintain compliance with CMS, Joint Commission, and Arizona requirements.
• Support quality improvement and patient safety.
