Job summary

Northwestern Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner or a Physician Assistant to work in pre-op. The APP will assess patients, complete a history and physical and order any necessary follow up to ensure the patient is ready for anesthesia. APPs are responsible for following patient care through until surgery is completed.

Schedule: M-F, days. Orientation at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, then 4x10s at Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital with remote telehealth

Qualifications

• Master’s degree from an accredited nursing school or a master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Acute care certification required for APRNs; inpatient experience may count for NP role.
• First Assist Certification for all APRNs.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients and perform history and physicals.
• Order follow-up tests and ensure patient readiness for anesthesia.
• Provide care through surgery and post-operative period; telehealth visits post-orientation.
