Qualifications

Job description

Position Information

Reporting directly to the Director of the Pre-Professional Advising Center within the Division of Undergraduate Education, the Pre-Law Advisor advises undergraduate students and alumni interested in pursuing careers in the legal professions—from beginning exploration of attending law school through the law school admission process. The salary range for this position is $58,800.00 – $101,220.00 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is $58,800.00 – $71,000.00 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff. As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.

Requirements

Educational Requirements Degree Bachelor’s degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

  • Thorough knowledge of college/school policies, procedures, and requirements.
  • Demonstrated understanding of law school admissions landscape.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal, and counseling skills.
  • Knowledge of pre-law student population and UCR student body with a large percentage of first-generation college students.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize responsibilities and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience with databases, web applications and electronic communications.
  • Demonstrated record of commitment to equity in higher education.
