Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
• Valid Alabama teaching certificate in special education.
• Ability to meet suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under Alabama law.
• Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
• Effective interpersonal skills with collaboration across groups.
• Ability to develop and implement curriculum and programming for assigned students.
• Ability to identify and solve problems as a productive team member.
• Ability to use technology to communicate, plan, and deliver instruction; manage data and reports.

Responsibilities

• Support the school system’s vision and priorities.
• Participate in development of students’ IEPs as a member of the IEP team.
• Implement students’ IEPs and schedule IEP meetings.
• Use varied instructional strategies tailored to student needs.
• Monitor progress and adapt instruction based on data and assessments.
• Collaborate with general education teachers and staff to maximize student achievement.
• Integrate instructional and assistive technology in the classroom.
• Maintain a safe, organized learning environment and supervise students.
