Job summary

Wake County Public School System is seeking an Instructional Assistant-Pre-K to support licensed teachers across general education, special education, and Title I settings. The role involves assisting with classroom activities, maintaining a safe environment, preparing materials, and coordinating with teachers on plans.

Qualifications

• Requires CPI certification and ongoing renewal; CPI training provided by WCPSS.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
• Experience with Pre-K Special Education/Blended programs serving students with special needs preferred.
• For Title I schools, meet ESSA requirements (Public Law 114-95).

Responsibilities

• Provides instructional support and collaborates with teachers to create a safe, caring environment for all students.
• Assists with planning, organization, and selection of materials; ensures resources are ready as per lesson plans.
• Demonstrates professional and technical skills to support the school program.
• Works with individual students or small groups in various Pre-K classrooms as needed.
• Participates in district staff development and ongoing professional growth.
• Maintains a positive disposition, exercises good judgment, and remains calm with students.
• Compiles, maintains, and files reports and records, maintaining confidentiality.
• Coordinates and assists students with special health care needs (hygiene, mobility, CPI skills).
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Preschool Special Education/Blended: assist with IEPs, behavior plans, and assistive technology implementation.
