Job summary

Wakulla County School District is seeking a dedicated para-professional to support teachers and students in an instructional setting. You will assist with preparing materials, managing classroom resources, and fostering a positive learning environment.

You will contribute to student progress by helping implement plans, supervising activities, and assisting with assessments. The role requires strong communication and organizational skills, and adherence to district policies throughout the school

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent; 60 s.h. postsecondary study; or an Associate’s degree or higher; or pass Praxis ParaPara Assessment demonstrating knowledge to assist in instruction of reading, writing, mathematics.
• Proficiency in typing/keyboard skills, office machines, filing/organization; strong written and oral communication skills.
• Experience with children in an educational setting or related field expected; highly qualified requirements by 6/3/11.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers by preparing materials and equipment for direct instructional activity, locating, copying, collating, distributing materials.
• Schedule space for specialized instructional programs and coordinate equipment and setup.
• Review long and short term plans to anticipate needed supplies and materials.
• Lead small group activities under teacher guidance to engage students.
• Assist in adapting curriculum for diverse backgrounds, needs, and learning styles.
• Support student behavior management strategies as directed.
• Maintain security of records, materials, and equipment.
• Help enforce classroom rules and maintain records as required.
• Assist in assessing student progress, proctor tests, and mark papers while keeping confidential records.
• Collect and organize assessment data from multiple sources for teacher review.
• Provide instructional assistance as planned by teacher or administrator.
• Maintain student performance records.
