Job summary

Cherokee Elementary School is seeking a Childcare Assistant to support Pre-K/Preschool classrooms and the after-school program. You will help plan activities, supervise staff and children, and ensure compliance with health service rules.

Requires high school diploma or equivalent, with 12 months of child care experience or 3 credit hours in early childhood, or 30 training hours. A minimum of 18 hours of approved training annually is expected.

Qualifications

• Must meet staff qualifications under R9-5-401 and be at least 21.
• Provide documentation of one of the following: High School Diploma or GED, 12 months of qualifying child care experience and 3 credit hours in early childhood, or 30 actual training hours in early childhood or closely related field.
• Licensing requirements include: various credentials (N.A.C., C.D.A., C.C.P. or C.P.C.) and specific experience; DPS FPCC background check.
• Applicants must provide: High School Diploma/GED, college transcripts/diploma, and any training certificates.
• Upon hire, provide proof of TB test, immunization statement, DPS FPCC, and Criminal History Affidavit.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Pre-K/Preschool teacher with daily operation of the classroom.
• Assist with on-site operations including planning activities and supervising Kids Club or Early Bird.
• Maintain compliance with Arizona Department of Health Services rules.
• Establish and maintain rapport with students, employees and the community.
• Keep teachers and coordinators informed of staff and student activities.
• Order supplies and maintain site inventory.
• Maintain behavior standards per district/program policy.
• Complete minimum 18 training hours per year as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education

High school diploma

Associate degree in early childhood

Bachelor degree in early childhood

ParaPro Assessment (if less than AA/60 credits)
