Job summary

Tract is seeking a skilled Pre-Construction Engineer to support large-scale civil infrastructure and land development projects from due diligence through construction handoff. The ideal candidate has 2+ years in preconstruction, design management, estimating, or development and strong coordination with consultants and vendors.

You will help drive feasibility, budgeting, and procurement strategies across projects nationwide, with emphasis on safety and efficient design progression.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent OR 5+ years related preconstruction/design experience.
• 2+ years of preconstruction, estimating, design management, or vendor management on large commercial/industrial projects.
• Experience with proposals, bidding, scope leveling, constructability reviews, cost analysis, and consultant/trade partner coordination.
• 1+ years supporting large-scale civil infrastructure projects including site development, grading, drainage, and utilities.

Responsibilities

• Support due diligence and early-stage planning, including site feasibility and permitting pathways.
• Coordinate design and development of projects (site layout, grading, road design, stormwater, utilities).
• Develop budgets, quantity takeoffs, cost models for underwriting decisions.
• Lead cost optimization, value engineering, and constructability reviews.
• Prepare RFPs, support bid packaging and procurement for consultants and vendors.
• Coordinate internally on design changes, procurement strategies, and commercial recommendations.
• Maintain preconstruction schedules, milestone trackers, and deliverable logs.
• Communicate with architects, engineers, contractors, utilities, and internal teams.
