Job summary

Purdue University in West Lafayette seeks an Assistant Director, Pre-Award to provide leadership in workload assignment, process development and setting expectations that meet and exceed customer needs in Pre-Award activities.

The role directs proposal workload, quality control, and training for the PERA system, partnering with Pre-Award Managers and SPS to support faculty research. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Five or more years of experience in higher education research administration.
• Ability to analyze, interpret and implement University policies and procedures.
• Excellent communication skills (oral and written), planning, problem-solving, analytical, organizational, project management and customer service skills.
• Ability to influence and build work relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels.
• Ability to analyze large amounts of data and trends at both a high level and detailed level.
• Learning orientation to changing technology impacting business processes.
• Personal computer and related software skills, e.g. word processing, spreadsheets, database, data query and Internet.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership for Pre-Award Services and develop processes while setting priorities.
• Lead PERA system activities including training and updates; liaison with SPS.
• Direct and support proposal development for West Lafayette and regional campuses.
• Review and analyze completed proposals for compliance with sponsor and university guidelines.
• Coordinate additional activities and special projects as needed by the Director.
