Job summary

Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary is seeking an Entry Level Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Cornea service and supervise 8–10 administrative staff. This leadership role includes staff scheduling, hiring, orientation and performance evaluations, and providing cross-coverage as needed.

You’ll ensure HIPAA compliance, optimize administrative systems, support budgeting processes with practice leaders, and manage payroll issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field required.
  • 2-3 years supervisory experience in an academic healthcare environment.
  • 2-3 years experience in academic healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees day-to-day administrative performance of staff and schedules.
  • Performs hiring, orientation and evaluation of staff; administers corrective action as needed.
  • Assists in staff career development through coaching, training and HIPAA compliance.
  • Monitors payroll and patient billing to ensure revenue procedures.

Job Summary

Summary

Responsible for the day to day operations of Cornea service. Provides direct supervision of 8 -10 administrative support staff, and operational duties and functions. As a member of the leadership team, provides administrative cross coverage to manage staffing and/or operational issues.

Essential Functions
  • Oversees the day-to-day administrative performance of administrative support staff and manage staff schedules. Evaluates daily staffing needs and coordinates replacement of staff.
  • Performs hiring, orientation and evaluation of staff. Administers corrective action if appropriate.
  • Assists in the career development of practice employees through on-going coaching, counseling, and training. Ensures all mandatory training is completed by staff and HIPAA policies and procedures are followed by staff. Evaluates, develops and implements administrative systems and procedures designed to maximize practice operations. Regularly evaluates and analyzes practice performance metrics. Collaborates with practice leaders on the preparation of the practices annual budgets.
  • Oversees the department's payroll including the resolution of payroll issues. Monitors patient billing activity to ensure compliance with revenue procedures. All other duties assigned.
