Job summary

O’Melveny & Myers LLP is seeking a Practice Analyst in Los Angeles to support budget management, pricing, and performance analytics across Litigation and Corporate departments. The role partners with Practice Managers to deliver efficient legal services and monitor key performance indicators.

The ideal candidate has strong analytical and communication skills, advanced Excel proficiency, and at least five years in practice management or financial analysis within a professional services

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in Business, Economics, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
• Five years experience in practice management, financial analysis, or a similar discipline, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the capacity to deliver high-quality deliverables.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to collaborate with Finance, Pricing/Strategic Analytics, and Client Development.
• Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook; experience with databases is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Track performance against budgets, reporting weekly client changes in scope, accruals, and other performance metrics.
• Assist in preparing work plans and evaluating resources for matter teams.
• Create financial reports for matter teams on attorney utilization, client and matter profitability.
• Monitor progress against economic targets and goals, initiating follow‑up as needed.
• Analyze client performance data to identify opportunities for improvement and growth.
• Assess profitability of hourly and alternative fee arrangements.
• Perform ad‑hoc projects and analyses as directed by the Practice Managers.
• Support strategic initiatives and day‑to‑day operations of the Litigation and Corporate Departments.

Practice Analyst – Los Angeles, CA

O’Melveny is hiring a Practice Analyst for its Los Angeles office. The role supports the firm’s legal project management efforts, working closely with Practice Managers to ensure efficient delivery of legal services through budget management, outside counsel guideline compliance, pricing, and monitoring of key performance indicators.

Salary range: $85,000 – $105,000 (CA/NYC/DC). Actual compensation will depend on experience, qualifications, and location.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
