Job summary

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Northwest Covington campus is seeking a Practical Nursing Associate Instructor (Evening) for a full-time, 16-month evening cohort program. The position runs Monday through Friday from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Requires an Associate Degree in Nursing and Tennessee RN licensure with no disciplinary actions; BSN preferred. Candidates need at least three years of current clinical experience and teaching ability; computer skills are required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Develop course of study and conduct training program in the specialty area using ATI, D2L and other platforms.
• Confer with administration to understand policy and technology changes.
• Formulate teaching outlines and determine instructional methods for individual and group instruction.
• Select or develop teaching aids, demonstration models and multimedia materials.
• Assist other PN instructors with skills, lectures, and clinical.
• Provide tutoring to nursing students during office hours.
• Maintain student records and reports.
• Be responsible for student placement and follow-up.
• Cooperate with outside agencies and advisory committees; visit business/industry; maintain public relations.
• Participate in recruitment of students.
• Supervise students' clinical experiences in various settings.
• Seek clinical sites for clinical training and adhere to requirements.

• Associate Degree in Nursing required BSN preferred.
• Must hold active licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee with no disciplinary actions.
• Must have a minimum of three (3) years of successful recent employment experience in the specialty area to be taught beyond the normal learning period.
• Must possess the organizational and communication skills necessary to be an effective instructor.
• Must have the ability to interact with adult students.
• Must show evidence of good character, mature attitude, and stable personality.
• Must possess computer skills.
• Must have at least three years' current clinical experience. Teaching experience preferred.

• Confer with administration to gain knowledge and better understand changes in policies, procedures, and technologies.
• Formulate teaching outline and determine instructional methods utilizing knowledge of specific training needs and effectiveness of such methods as individualized and group instruction, lecture, demonstration, and conference.
• Select or develop teaching aids, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, and reference materials.
• Assist other PN instructors with skills, lectures, and clinical.
• Provide tutoring to nursing students as needed during office hours.
