Job summary

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Northwest Covington campus is seeking a Practical Nursing Associate Instructor for the evening program. This full-time role runs Monday through Friday from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. during the 16-month evening cohorts.

The instructor will develop course materials, deliver content using ATI and D2L, supervise clinical experiences, maintain records, and participate in recruitment and advisory activities to support adult learners toward licensure.

Qualifications

  • ADN required; RN license in TN with no disciplinary actions.
  • BSN preferred.
  • Minimum three years of recent clinical experience in the specialty area.
  • Teaching experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with adult students.
  • Proficiency with computer applications.

Responsibilities

  • Develop course of study and conduct training using ATI, D2L, and other platforms.
  • Confer with administration on policies and changes in procedures and technologies.
  • Create teaching outlines and determine instructional methods.
  • Select or develop teaching aids and materials.
  • Provide tutoring and supervise clinical experiences.
  • Maintain student records and reports.
  • Assist with student placement and recruitment.
  • Coordinate with outside agencies and conduct site visits.
  • Adhere to nursing board and program requirements.

Job description

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Northwest Covington campus is accepting applications for a Practical Nursing Associate Instructor (Evening). This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. for the 16-month evening cohorts.

  • Associate Degree in Nursing required BSN preferred.
  • Must hold active licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee with no disciplinary actions.
  • Must have a minimum of three (3) years of successful recent employment experience in the specialty area to be taught beyond the normal learning period.
  • Must possess the organizational and communication skills necessary to be an effective instructor.
  • Must have the ability to interact with adult students.
  • Must show evidence of good character, mature attitude, and stable personality.
  • Must possess computer skills.
  • Must have at least three years' current clinical experience. Teaching experience preferred.
  • Develop course of study and conduct training program in specialty area utilizing ATI, D2L, and other curriculum support platforms.
  • Confer with administration to gain knowledge and better understand changes in policies, procedures, and technologies.
  • Formulate teaching outline and determine instructional methods utilizing knowledge of specific training needs and effectiveness of such methods as individualized and group instruction, lecture, demonstration, and conference.
  • Select or develop teaching aids, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, and reference materials.
  • Assist other PN instructors with skills, lectures, and clinical.
  • Provide tutoring to nursing students as needed during office hours.
  • Maintain student records and reports.
  • Responsible for student placement and assist with student follow-up.
  • Cooperate with outside agencies; work with program advisory committees; conduct visits to business and industry; establish and maintain good public relations with the school's general public.
  • Participate in recruitment of students.
  • Supervise students' clinical experiences in various healthcare settings (long term care, acute care, outpatient clinics, schools, etc.).
  • Actively seek potential clinical sites for the provision of clinical training.
  • Adhere to all Board of Nursing requirements and all TCAT Northwest requirements.
