Associate Instructor - Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN)

Position Summary

Full‑time, 12‑month faculty employee contract. The normal workweek requires a five‑day workweek and includes a minimum of 37.5 hours per week at an approved campus work site for instruction, office hours, and community and college service.

Instructors are responsible for teaching students in classroom, hands‑on lab settings, and clinical to ensure they acquire the knowledge and skills required for entry‑level employment. Instructors maintain sound educational practices, manage classroom environment, promote a positive learning experience, provide support, tutoring, and model professional behaviors.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
Holistic Student Support
  • Model compassionate professionalism to students.
  • Recognize diverse learning styles and tailor strategies accordingly.
  • Integrate programs, activities, and initiatives to optimize the student experience.
  • Provide study strategies and introduce various learning possibilities.
  • Encourage students to experiment with multiple study strategies.
  • Monitor student progress to promote success.
  • Provide counseling resources as needed.
Teaching Excellence and Program Innovation
  • Develop, adapt, and improve programs and services in response to changing environments and institutional priorities.
  • Provide educational opportunities and experiences in leadership, social responsibility, and global citizenship.
  • Utilize classroom and lab instruction, assessment mechanisms, and management techniques to engage students.
  • Ensure each student can meet learning objectives of each course.
  • Prepare instructional materials and equipment for student use.
Organizational Culture
  • Understand college goals and priorities related to student experience.
  • Participate in faculty assessment and professional development activities; maintain certification and license.
  • Participate in meetings, review assessment data, compile reports, and meet academic and administrative deadlines.
  • Ensure campus compliance with all federal, state, and regulatory guidelines and internal policies.
Fiscal Stewardship
  • Manage financial resources in accordance with college policies and fiscal realities.
Qualifications
  • Required Qualifications:
    • Active and unencumbered registered nurse license in Tennessee.
    • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing with three years of clinical experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Master of Science Degree in Nursing (MSN) and teaching experience preferred.
Skills

Salary

Commensurate with experience and according to the salary guidelines of the Tennessee Board of Regents. Range: $55,983 – $67,181.
