Job summary

Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School is seeking a Practical Nursing Adjunct Instructor to teach and supervise PN courses in the evening and on weekends. The role involves delivering content, evaluating student outcomes, and maintaining records under the direction of the Director of Practical Nursing.

The candidate should have a nursing degree, MA RN licensure, and teaching experience with adult learners.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
• Massachusetts RN in good standing.
• Minimum of three years of full-time nursing experience within the past five years.
• Current licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a registered nurse.
• Evidence of clinical competence in the area of clinical and theoretical instruction.
• Current formal teaching experience preferred in nursing education with adult students.
• Certified, or certifiable, under Ch. 74, H40.
• Must be available weeknights and every other weekend days.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

Responsibilities

• Designs and presents content per syllabus within the Curriculum Plan of the Practical Nursing Program.
• Designs and implements evaluation strategies to identify student progress.
• Maintains accurate and current records of student progress in assigned areas.
• Communicates student progress to the Director of Practical Nursing regularly.
• Reviews content, plan, and outcomes with the PN Director after each course.
• Provides clinical supervision to up to ten PN students in clinical agencies.
• Designs and implements classroom and/or laboratory content with PN Director's approval.
• Evaluates student progress according to course evaluation methods.
• Maintains records of student progress in clinical or classroom teaching.
• Counsels students regarding academic and/or clinical progress; provides remediation as needed.
• Completes faculty orientation for PN Program and clinical agencies.
• Adheres to clinical agency policies and Montachusett MRVTS policies.

Job Description

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Utilizes the framework provided by the syllabus for the assigned course, as developed within the Curriculum Plan of the Practical Nursing Program, and designs and presents content that fosters student attainment of the listed outcome.
• Designs and implements evaluation strategies at periodic intervals that identify levels of student progress within the course.
• Maintains accurate and current records of student progress in assigned areas of instruction.
• Communicates student progress to the Director of Practical Nursing regularly.
• Reviews with the Director of Practical Nursing the content, plan, and outcomes of the course and the program Outcomes after the course.
• Provides clinical supervision to no more than ten (10) practical nursing students in agencies that will provide clinical practice to complement classroom and/or laboratory learning.
• Designs and implements classroom and/or laboratory content as assigned, with the PN Director's approval
• Evaluates student progress periodically according to evaluation strategies for clinical and/or classroom and/ or laboratory experience.
• Maintains accurate and current records of student progress in assigned areas of clinical or classroom teaching.
• Counsel students regarding academic and/or clinical progress; provide remediation as needed.
• Completes faculty orientation program for PN Program and clinical agencies as assigned.
• Adheres to clinical agency policies and/or contractual requirements regarding student and faculty practice.
• Observes relevant faculty policies of the Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School District

WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position may require long periods of standing and sitting. The individual may be exposed to ultraviolet lights in computer monitors and copying equipment. The individual may be exposed to various hazards in the building.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Work hours are determined by the hours allotted to each course.
