MassBay Community College is seeking qualified part‑time instructors for the Practical Nursing program in Framingham. The adjunct clinical faculty member will supervise students in labor and delivery clinicals, grade assignments, and provide substantial feedback to support student learning.

  • Assign, supervise, plan experiences, and evaluate students in practice learning environments based on course outcomes.
  • Provide feedback to administrators and faculty on learning environments and student preparedness.
  • Maintain required paperwork and documentation for the program.

Adjunct Clinical Faculty – Practical Nursing, Maternity

Department: Nursing PN

Location: Framingham

Position Summary

MassBay Community College seeks qualified part‑time instructors in the Practical Nursing Program for the Summer semesters. The practical nursing clinical course covers nursing care of clients in the labor and delivery units. The instructor must have clinical experience, communicate effectively, assess students objectively, and work as part of a team.

The ideal candidate will join a vibrant educational community, and have a desire and ability to serve a population of students with various needs and backgrounds. The candidate is expected to commit to excellence in teaching and learning, collaboration and professional development. Adjunct faculty are expected to deliver course materials in a learner‑centered environment conductive to engaging students in the learning process. The faculty member in this position communicates consistently and effectively with students, faculty and administrators, and responds to communications within a 24‑hour period of time. The faculty is responsible for managing this clinical course through timely grading of assignments, providing substantial student feedback with assignments, and submission of clinical evaluations, attendance and grades.

Instructor responsibilities include supervising students in the clinical setting; guidance in completing assignments such as daily clinical worksheets, concept maps, and care plans; medication card system, and conducting student evaluations.

Available Clinical: Summer 2025

PN 130 Care of the Family (Clinicals): Monday‑Friday 7:00 am–4:00 pm. Days may vary each week.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter and an awareness of new developments in the field.
  • Integrate didactic content into the student(s) clinical assignment.
  • Communicate with course faculty regularly to track student progress or to develop performance improvement plans to support student learning.
  • Responsible for conducting the mid‑semester and final clinical evaluations.
  • Assign, supervise, plan experiences, and evaluate students in practice learning environments based on course and program student learning outcomes.
  • Provide support, guidance, and instruction on all aspects of patient care while at the clinical facility or laboratory classroom.
  • Demonstrate procedures and patient care in clinical or laboratory nursing settings.
  • Provide feedback to the assistant dean of nursing, program director, and clinical placement coordinator on the appropriateness of the health care agency in terms of teaching/learning environments for students.
  • Provide feedback to the course faculty on student preparedness regarding curriculum.
  • Attend course‑specific orientation on campus with the Assistant Dean of Nursing and course faculty.
  • Participate in clinical faculty mentoring as identified by the Assistant Dean of Nursing and course faculty.
  • Participate in the Program’s continuous improvement efforts, which include BORN and ACEN requirements.
  • Maintain appropriate paperwork and documentation required by the program.

Required Qualifications
  • Current unencumbered Massachusetts RN license.

  • Clinical teaching experience.

Salary Range: $1,512.00 – $1,715.00
