Job summary

Freese and Nichols seeks a Communications and Social Media Specialist to drive the firm's social media strategy from its offices in Texas and beyond. You will develop content, supervise posts, and coordinate with the PR/Communications team while engaging technical staff for stories and campaigns.

You will train staff, monitor analytics, and stay ahead of industry best practices, contributing to business development and recruitment efforts.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of communications experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism or related discipline.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms and management tools, especially LinkedIn.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Experience in B2B or consulting marketing/communications.
  • Professional certification (CPSM, APR, etc.) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Write feature articles about projects, people and technical topics.
  • Report Freese and Nichols news and present stories strategically.
  • Interview technical staff, corporate leaders and clients.
  • Develop thought leadership content with subject matter experts.
  • Oversee social media platforms and publishing calendar.
  • Coordinate messaging with internal stakeholders and vendors.

Job description

Freese and Nichols is seeking a Communications and Social Media Specialist to work from any of these offices across the southern United States: Austin, San Marcos, San Antonio, Fort Worth, Frisco, Houston or Corpus Christi, Texas; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Rogers, Arkansas; or Raleigh or Charlotte, North Carolina.

The Communications and Social Media Specialist will help tell the stories of our engineers, planners and scientists and their impact on our communities, with a particular focus on overseeing Freese and Nichols’ social media strategy. As the primary administrator of our social media platforms, you will shape Freese and Nichols’ presence on social media and will coordinate content produced by the PR/Communications team. You’ll also be a versatile communicator who can independently find and develop stories for business development, recruitment and internal audiences. Continuing our efforts to strengthen employee engagement, you will lead training for technical staff and corporate leaders and partner with them on communications campaigns. Duties generally fall into two categories,content development and social media management:

Content Development
  • Writes feature articles about projects, people and technical topics
  • Reports Freese and Nichols news, finding newsworthy stories and presenting them in a strategic way
  • Interviews technical staff, corporate leaders and clients
  • Works with subject matter experts to produce thought leadership content
  • Manages projects or campaigns with multiple stakeholders, contributors or vendors
Social Media Management
  • Serves as primary administrator of Freese and Nichols’ social media platforms and processes
  • Oversees publishing calendar of daily social media posts, which are written by team members
  • Coordinates with internal stakeholders to develop social media messaging and strategies
  • Trains technical staff and corporate leaders to use social media effectively
  • Keeps up with industry best practices and emerging tactics for individual platforms
  • Monitors analytics, tracks data and contributes to reports
Qualifications
  • 6+ years of communications experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism or other related discipline
  • Proficiency in social media platforms and management tools, particularly LinkedIn account administration
  • Ability to independently manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Strong initiative and continuous improvement mindset
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail
  • PreferredExperience in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry
  • Experience in B2B or consulting marketing/communications
  • Working knowledge of visual design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite
  • Professional certification (CPSM, APR, etc.)
  • Involvement in a professional organization (SMPS, PRSA, etc.)
