The PPS Program Coordinator works with physicians and coders to ensure data is encoded and transmitted per Medicare requirements and supports documentation systems for inpatient rehabilitation.

Responsibilities

• Clinical Required: Provide patient care, treatment, and services within the scope of their license, certification or registration and as required by Federal and State laws and regulations.
• IRF-PAI data completion to determine RIC, IGC, CMG, and payment under the Rehabilitation Perspective Payment system.
• Develops and implements a schedule for completion of IRF-PAI according to Medicare requirements.
• Ensures accuracy and thoroughness of data recorded.
• Coordinates pre-admit assessment and screening with Admission Coordinators, Physicians and Coders.
• Assesses IRF-PAI data and contributes to the plan of care.
• Coordinates and completes the PAI on all acute rehabilitation inpatients as part of the hospital outcomes tool.
• Works with inpatient coding staff to identify and document codes.
• Identifies tier codes.
• Maintains timely transmission of IRF-PAI to CMS.
• Reports key metrics to leadership from UDS or eRehab.data (CMI, 60% rule).
• Admission and Discharge processes; Functional measurements education and feedback to clinical teams.
• Assists leadership in developing documentation systems for inpatient rehabilitation that comply with Medicare guidelines.
• Stays abreast of regulatory and accreditation changes affecting rehabilitation.
• Observes and analyzes systems via audits to enhance efficiency; conducts quality assurance.
• Maintains components of case reviews/payment audits and appeals for CMS and other payers.
• Monitors, audits, and ensures submission of all QRP Data Collection elements.
