Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in power systems, MV or HV switchgear, protection and automation, controls, commissioning, field service, or technical project execution.
• Experience leading, mentoring, coaching, or developing engineers or technical employees.
• Working knowledge of protection relays, commissioning, field execution, switchgear testing, FATs, SATs, and site acceptance tests.
• Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
• Ability to travel up to 15% domestically.
• Must be physically in the Wendell, NC office 2+ days a week.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Support the day-to-day management of the Power Protection & Automation EDP.
• Coach, mentor, and develop EDP participants throughout their rotational experience.
• Provide technical guidance to help participants build deeper knowledge in protection, automation, relay applications, controls, communications, FATs, SATs, commissioning, and field execution.
• Coordinate training schedules, field rotations, site assignments, report-outs, and deployment plans in partnership with Engineering Managers and project teams.
• Partner with Power Academy, mentors, and domain experts to improve technical curriculum, hands‑on learning, and program consistency.
• Track participant performance, indicators, safety, field readiness, employee‑overtime, and development progress.
• Support mentors and field teams by helping reinforce technical expectations, learning objectives, and development plans for each participant.
• Support recruiting, onboarding, and selection activities for future EDP cohorts.
• Drive continuous improvement of the EDP curriculum, rotation structure, onboarding process, report‑out expectations, and overall program experience.
• Create an environment where early‑career engineers feel supported, challenged, and prepared for long‑term engineering roles within PPA.
