Job summary

Polaris Inc. in Minnesota is seeking a powertrain test engineer to support CVT and transmission testing within the Powertrain Development Lab. You will instrument vehicles, conduct lab and field tests, collect and analyze data, and assist in integrating powertrain systems into vehicle applications.

You will independently execute testing activities, troubleshoot issues, and help improve testing processes. The role requires hands-on testing, data quality focus, and the ability to work with

Qualifications

• Technical degree related to engines, powertrain systems, automotive technology, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience with powertrain or vehicle testing.
• Experience with electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic activities.
• Fabrication, machining, and welding skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Excel, and Word.
• Experience with vehicle electrical systems, wiring, and interpreting schematics preferred.
• Exposure to ETAS INCA, AIM, or similar testing and data acquisition software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Setup, configure, maintain, and update test hardware, instrumentation, and data acquisition to support CVT, transmission, engine, and vehicle testing.
• Conduct lab and field testing independently in support of development and validation.
• Operate and evaluate off-road vehicles to assess powertrain performance and durability.
• Collect, interpret, analyze, and maintain test data for engineering decisions.
• Ensure data quality, accuracy, and integrity of all testing data.
• Operate chassis dynamometer equipment in a development test cell.
• Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems to resolve issues.
• Create and improve testing processes for repeatable results.
• Maintain a safe, organized work environment per OSHA 5S practices.
