Job summary

Polaris Inc. is seeking a hands-on Powertrain Development Technician to operate engine dynamometers and development test cells in a laboratory setting.

You will calibrate, instrument, and maintain test engines, run data‑acquisition systems, and analyze results to support powertrain development and certification efforts. The role requires a technical degree related to engines and a minimum of 3 years’ experience with engines, testing, and calibration.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience with high‑performance small engines, engine testing and calibration.
• Strong understanding of internal combustion engines, fuel‑injection and operating principles.
• Experience assembling, disassembling, inspecting, and blueprinting engines.

Responsibilities

• Operate engine dynamometers and development test cells to support powertrain hardware development, engine calibration, emissions, performance, and certification testing.
• Configure, instrument, update, and maintain test‑engine hardware including assembly, disassembly, inspection, and reassembly.
• Set up, operate, and troubleshoot data‑acquisition systems, engine‑control software, emissions equipment, and laboratory instrumentation.
• Collect, interpret, analyze, and document test data ensuring quality and integrity of results.
• Maintain, calibrate, diagnose, and repair test‑cell systems and equipment including mechanical, electrical, cooling, and control components.
• Support engine calibration and controls development by operating software to monitor and adjust engine parameters.
• Create, maintain, and improve laboratory test procedures and documentation for repeatable testing.
• Collaborate with engineers to execute test requests, troubleshoot issues, and support development objectives.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment per OSHA and 5S requirements.
• Protect confidential information, test results, and development activities.
