Job summary

TOOGANN TECHNOLOGIES in Auburn Hills, MI is seeking a PT Emission and V2V Lab Engineer to run emissions, fuel economy, and V2V tests in a dynamic dynamometer test cell. You will integrate instrumentation, troubleshoot data issues, and own test-cell operations from installation to data delivery.

The role involves coordinating with facilities and calibration teams, applying PLC controls, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering required.
• Experience with dynamometer test cells, preferably powertrain dynamometer environments.
• Experience with cell automation software and control systems (AVL PUMA, Horiba Stars, Schenck X-One).
• Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration in a union-represented, multi-shift lab.
• Deep understanding of dynamometer operation modes and control strategies.
• Ability to integrate devices/instrumentation into a dynamometer test cell.
• Knowledge of instrumentation signals (analog/digital/frequency).
• Understanding of road load coefficients and vehicle energy demand.
• Ability to trace data flow from source to final data file.
• Proficiency with software logic and languages (Visual Basic, Python, C).
• Proficient in CAN network setup and CANalyzer usage; modify DBC files.
• Experience with ETAS tools (MDA, INCA).
• MS Office proficiency (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Familiarity with emission & fuel economy testing docs (CARB, CFR).
• Knowledge of HV batteries, battery models, and emulators (AV900, AVL BTEXXX).
• Knowledge of PLC systems in powertrain test cells.

Responsibilities

• Perform emissions, fuel economy, and V2V tests in a powertrain dynamometer test cell.
• Operate test equipment, instrumentation, and dynamometer for accurate testing.
• Integrate devices and instrumentation into the test cell as required by calibration engineers.
• Troubleshoot data loss, premature test shutdowns, or test failures.
• Own test cell operations including installation, operation, and execution.
• Oversee data generation, collection, and organization to support calibration decisions.
• Collaborate with facilities, instrumentation, and calibration teams to resolve issues.
• Work with PLC-controlled systems to perform test procedures.
• Ensure tests meet regulatory and industry standards for emissions and fuel economy.
