Job summary

Ford Motor Company is seeking a controls engineering lead for powertrain manufacturing, responsible for implementing PLC/SCL-based control architectures across PTO programs and coordinating with Tier I suppliers in North American sites. The role requires 5+ years in controls with electrical/pneumatic hardware experience and extensive PLC/CNC know-how.

Hybrid work arrangement with potential off-hours during peak launches; travel up to 80% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical OR Mechanical) or Computer Science.
• 5+ years of implementation experience.
• Experience in controls engineering.
• Hardware design experience – Electrical and Pneumatic.
• Panel layout and design experience.
• Applied experience in Structured Control Language (SCL), including FC/FB editing.
• MS Office (1+ year) experience.
• Experience with PLCs (Siemens, Schneider, Bosch) and CNC/Motion controls.

Responsibilities

• Lead controls engineering deliverables for PTO programs from design to launch.
• Implement standard control architectures across programs/plants.
• Capture lessons learned and apply to new programs and existing standards.
• Lead simultaneous engineering meetings with Tier I suppliers.
• Participate in program reviews and commodity discussions.
• Resolve issues related to feasibility, timing, cost and workload.
• Deliver new model program work for Powertrain programs in SE MI, OH or Windsor.
• Travel up to 80% during peak program times.
• Work off shift during peak install and launch times.
