Job summary

PACCAR is seeking a Control System Engineer in Lewisville, TX to lead development and validation of next-gen powertrain control systems across software, electrical, mechanical and embedded disciplines. You will guide system development through the lifecycle, coordinating validation activities with suppliers and cross-functional teams to deliver safe, high-performing solutions.

The role emphasizes leading pilot builds, system integration, FMEAs, and robust verification planning while traveling up

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline.
• 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
• Experience designing, developing, and troubleshooting embedded systems using microcontrollers and peripherals (GPIO, PWM, timers, ADC/DAC, UART, SPI, I2C, CAN).
• Strong understanding of vehicle network architectures and automotive communication protocols (SAE J1939-21 CAN, J1939-22 CAN FD).
• Experience with requirements management and traceability tools (IBM DOORS Next, Siemens Polarion ALM, PTC Codebeamer).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional teams.
• Ability to travel up to 10% (including international travel).

Responsibilities

• Lead supplier and engineering activities to deliver powertrain control solutions meeting objectives.
• Evaluate and provide technical direction on control system architectures, designs, and validation strategies.
• Drive issue resolution through root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to develop, validate, and launch vehicle control systems.
• Lead pilot builds and vehicle integration activities with technical guidance.
• Develop and execute FMEAs and validation plans to reduce risk and improve quality.
