Job summary

Daimler Truck North America is seeking an engineer to develop axle components and systems for medium and heavy-duty trucks and buses. You will handle product specifications, concept development, design, DFMEA, simulations, testing and documentation, coordinating with global teams.

You will work on cross-functional activities across Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Sales and Suppliers, with a focus on delivering producible, cost-effective axle solutions while maintaining strong communication

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar technical field is required.
  • 2–4 years of relevant experience in mechanical hardware development or propulsion systems preferred.
  • Experience identifying and solving the root cause of complex problems.
  • Strong knowledge of propulsion systems including axles and transmissions.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and inform management of barriers.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop axles (mechanics) for medium and heavy-duty truck and bus applications, at component and system level.
  • Create and manage product specifications, concepts, designs, packaging, DFMEA/DVP, tolerances, simulations, prototypes, testing and documentation.
  • Collaborate globally with Detroit, Stuttgart and Portland teams on hardware components.
  • Coordinate with internal and external teams to release axle components to production.
  • Manage component suppliers and project budgets/timelines.
  • Document project work, draw conclusions, and present recommendations to management.
