Job summary

HDR is seeking a Civil Transmission Line Intern/Co-Op to join our Resources Business Group in Raleigh, NC or Charlotte, NC. You will assist with the civil and structural design of overhead transmission lines, support PLS-CADD modeling, and help prepare drawings and calculations under experienced engineers.

The role requires enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program with strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Basic Microsoft Office skills

Responsibilities

• Assist with civil and structural design of overhead transmission lines, including route development and structure spotting.
• Support development and review of PLS-CADD models, plan and profile drawings, and conductor clearance evaluations.
• Perform entry-level calculations related to transmission structures and foundations.
• Prepare and update engineering drawings, material quantities, cost estimates, and design documentation to standards.
• Coordinate with transmission line engineers and other specialists to support integrated project delivery.
• Assist with field activities such as site visits and data review while following safety requirements.
