Job summary
Deriva Energy seeks an Engineer III/Senior Engineer to join the Transmission & Market Fundamentals team in Charlotte, NC. You will collaborate with leadership to support the development, construction, and operation of utility-scale solar, wind, and battery storage projects.
Responsibilities include updating production cost models, analyzing congestion trends, supporting interconnection studies, and aiding project financing efforts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or closely related discipline.
- Three (3) years or more of experience in related fields in addition to degree.
- Experience with power flow or production cost modeling tools such as Power World, TARA, PSS/E, UPLAN, PORMOD, PROBE.
- Experience understanding ISO studies and transmission owner facilities studies.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to translate technical concepts for stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently while contributing in a collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities
- Revise mid- to long-term production cost models reflecting changes in generation and transmission topologies.
- Conduct medium- and long-term production cost analyses to assess congestion trends for projects.
- Evaluate commercial implications from generation additions, retirements, and transmission changes.
- Support interconnection studies with ISOs and TOs during study phases.
- Collaborate with external consultants to prepare reports on transmission and congestion.
- Assist in internal production cost analyses for offtake and project financing.
- Revise short- to mid-term production cost models based on market dynamics.
- Analyze market footprints to assess near- and mid-term congestion trends.
