Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) based in Boise, Idaho, seeks an Electrical Design Technician/Design Engineer to design and document high-voltage electrical systems for utility and industrial projects.

The role involves creating CAD drawings, schematics, and project documentation, mentoring drafters, and collaborating with technical leads to deliver quality work on time and within budget. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in EET, CAD, Drafting, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of high-voltage electrical design experience.
• Experience on protective relay control system projects.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Understanding protective relay installation requirements.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team.
• Willingness to travel as needed.
• Curiosity, adaptability, and commitment to continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed physical and electrical designs for utility and industrial projects.
• Develop CAD drawings, schematics, and project documentation.
