Job summary

Xcel Energy is seeking an Integrated System Planning (ISP) Engineering Intern to support transmission and substation planning activities. You will assist with data collection, engineering evaluations, and project scope development alongside transmission planners, substation engineers and project managers.

This internship offers exposure to utility planning processes, engineering best practices, and cross-functional coordination, with a focus on learning how to deliver reliable electric power

Qualifications

• Requires ABET-accredited Electrical Engineering or Computer Science degree program.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale (preferred).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication; ability to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Support ISP team's project scoping, development and documentation activities.
• Assist engineers with collecting, organizing and analyzing planning data for system studies.
• Review transmission and substation planning studies, project estimates and engineering reports.
• Prepare technical documentation, presentations and project status updates for meetings.
• Gain experience in utility planning, electric power system operations and project lifecycle.
