Job summary

Xcel Energy is offering an Integrated System Planning (ISP) Engineering Intern position in Amarillo, TX. This internship provides hands-on exposure to transmission and substation planning, data analysis, and project documentation within a regulated utility environment.

You will work with transmission planners, substation engineers, and project managers, developing technical documentation and learning crucial skills in grid reliability, planning studies, and cross-functional coordination.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled as a current student (Junior or higher).
• ABET-accredited program in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
• Able to work full-time during summer and part-time during the school year as per policy.

Responsibilities

• Support ISP project scoping, development, and documentation.
• Assist engineers with collecting, organizing, and analyzing planning data.
• Participate in review of planning studies, project estimates, and reports.
• Collaborate with planners, engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to track progress.
• Prepare technical documentation, presentations, and status updates.
• Gain experience with utility planning processes and grid reliability.
