Job summary

Shermco Industries, Inc. is hiring a Power Systems Field Technician to support our engineering team by collecting accurate field data required for power system studies and electrical infrastructure projects.

The role involves documenting existing electrical distribution, gathering equipment information, performing field verification, and supporting engineers responsible for arc flash, short circuit, and system coordination studies, while safely accessing energized equipment per NFPA 70E.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Electrical Technology or equivalent.
• 5+ years working on industrial or commercial electrical power systems.
• Experience with Medium/Low Voltage Switchgear, MCCs, Panelboards, Transformers, protective relays.
• Ability to read electrical one-line diagrams.
• Working knowledge of the NEC.
• Strong computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed field surveys of electrical distribution systems.
• Collect equipment information for arc flash, short circuit, protective device coordination, power quality, and other studies.
• Document equipment data, settings, and configurations; verify one-line diagrams.
• Develop red-line markups of electrical drawings and photograph equipment.
• Open and inspect energized equipment safely per NFPA 70E and safety procedures.
• Serve as on-site technical representative for clients during construction and commissioning.
• Track installation progress, deficiencies, and closeout documentation; coordinate with engineers.
• Travel to customer sites weekly with possible overnight stays and weekend work.
