Job summary

Shermco Industries is hiring a New Grad Field Services Technician - Electrical Testing I to support electrical systems in data centers. The role involves on-site testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting from 480V to 600kV, with emphasis on safety and client service.

You will work with cross-functional teams, maintain detailed reports, and travel locally/regionally as needed. Excellent training opportunities and a pathway to expand skills in power & controls are provided.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree from a 2-year technical college in Electrical Power & Controls (EPC) or related field.
• Experience in switchgear testing and troubleshooting is an asset.
• Good PC skills: email, internet, data entry, and Microsoft Excel; PowerDB is a plus.
• Must be able to work safely and adhere to electrical safety procedures.
• OSHA 30 hour, MSHA, NFPA 70-E, CPR/First Aid/BBP/AED training preferred; training provided by Shermco.
• Must be able to drive daily locally/regionally and be available for periodic overnight travel.

Responsibilities

• On-site technical support for installations, testing, and troubleshooting from 480V to 600kV.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance and inspections, including transformer and relay tests.
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues with switchgear, circuit breakers, and relays.
• Maintain professional client relationships and respond to inquiries, including emergency calls.
• Document service activities with reports and client feedback; track necessary product modifications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support improvement and innovation projects.
