Job summary

Eccalon LLC is seeking a Power Engineer with deep expertise in grid-scale energy generation, interconnection design, and storage integration. The role focuses on designing and optimizing infrastructure to charge battery systems for data centers and the broader electric grid.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in power systems engineering, with strong knowledge of renewables, DERs, and energy management systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in power systems engineering, preferably with renewable integration.
• Experience with utility grid codes, interconnection standards, and permitting processes.
• Familiarity with energy management systems and data center power requirements.
• Strong communication and ability to present technical concepts across teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and model integrated energy systems involving solar, wind, batteries, and conventional generation to support grid and data center loads.
• Develop electrical interconnect strategies for safe, reliable connections between renewables, storage, and grid infrastructure.
• Perform power flow analysis, protection coordination, and stability studies using industry tools (PSS/E, ETAP, PSCAD).
• Support microgrid, islanding, and backup power design for mission-critical facilities.
• Collaborate with civil, mechanical, and software engineers for multidisciplinary system integration.
• Evaluate interconnection standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., FERC, NERC, IEEE 1547, UL 9540).
• Engage with utilities, ISOs, and project developers to secure interconnection approvals.
• Produce technical docs including one-line diagrams, load studies, interconnect applications, and PPAs.
