Job summary

Bechtel is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to perform power system studies, equipment selection verification, and design development for complex industrial distribution systems with on-site generation and utility interfaces in Houston, TX.

The role supports a part-time telework arrangement with at least three days of in-person attendance weekly at the project site or office. Strong knowledge of NEC/IEEE standards and advanced toolsets is required.

Qualifications

Requires bachelor’s degree and 5–8 years of relevant experience or 9–12 years of relevant work experience.
Proficiency with NEC and ANSI/IEEE standards; strong communication within teams.
Experience with electrical system design tools and drawing regimes (MCC schedules, single-line diagrams).

Responsibilities

Evaluate and apply electrical engineering methods on medium and large-scale projects with limited oversight.
Perform load flow, voltage drop, short circuit, motor starting, protection coordination, and relay settings studies.
Develop load lists, single-line diagrams, metering diagrams, schematics, MCC and panel schedules.
Prepare equipment data sheets, purchasing requisitions, and technical bid evaluations for transformers, substations, UPSs, and switchgear.
Assist in conceptual studies, design reports, and design criteria documentation.
Coordinate with other disciplines, vendors, and construction teams; mentor junior engineers.
