Job summary

The City of Austin’s electric utility seeks an experienced electrical engineer to support generation, transmission, distribution, substations, and SCADA/EMS projects. You will prepare standards, specifications, and test procedures while performing rigorous power system studies and analyses.

Responsibilities include developing drawings, circuit maps, and control diagrams, coordinating with field crews, and ensuring compliance with NERC/ERCOT/ FERC and TX PUC standards.

Qualifications

• Experience with electric utility design and construction.
• Ability to prepare standards, equipment specifications, design procedures, and test procedures.
• Knowledge of NERC, ERCOT, FERC, TX PUC standards and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare standards, equipment specifications, design procedures, test procedures.
• Perform power system studies including protective relay coordination and load flows.
• Develop drawings for generation, transmission, distribution, substations, and SCADA/EMS.
• Prepare circuit maps, control diagrams, data bases, and plans for electric facilities.
• Assist departments and customers on technical electric utility matters.
• Travel to multiple work locations as required.
