Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. in Houston, TX is seeking an experienced electrical engineer to design power infrastructure for AWS data centers.

You will evaluate power generation options, from diesel to renewables, and lead concepts through deployment while coordinating with cross-functional teams. You will interpret SLDs and P&IDs, support grid interconnection studies, and drive availability and cost reduction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years leading power infrastructure designs in mission critical facilities.
• Experience with UPS, switchgear, VFDs, and transfer switches.
• Knowledge of power generation equipment and energy storage systems.
• Experience with medium/high-voltage equipment and substations.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams and P&IDs.

Responsibilities

• Developing designs and analysis of different power generation sources to serve data center loads in grid connected or grid independent configurations.
• Support the development of power generation configurations for different applications, including primary, temporary, or backup power.
• Understanding the design and functionality of the global data center fleet, including existing, upcoming, and unique site designs.
• Interpreting, evaluating, and developing Single Line Drawings (SLD), engineering drawings, equipment submittals, documentation, and performance data.
• Providing feedback to Design Engineering teams for design revisions for new data centers and upgrades.
• Understanding grid interconnection standards and requirements, including microgrid design and controls, and distributed energy resources.
