Job summary

Vallum Associates is seeking an Electrical Engineer with strong Power Systems and PSCAD/EMT experience to join a small, highly technical team working on hyperscale data centres and next-generation energy infrastructure. You will collaborate with senior engineers on challenging projects across data centres, behind-the-meter generation, and microgrids.

The ideal candidate has 5–8 years in power systems, experience with PSS/E/ETAP/DIgSILENT, and familiarity with BESS, HVDC, or power electronics.

Qualifications

5–8 years power systems experience.
Experience with PSS/E, ETAP or DIgSILENT.
Solid understanding of power systems, symmetrical components and machine dynamics.
Experience with IBRs, BESS, HVDC or power electronics.
Python/MATLAB and RTDS/HIL experience would be highly desirable.

Responsibilities

PSCAD/EMT modelling: building, validating, and running models.
Power system studies: load flow, short circuit, dynamic stability, protection coordination and RAM.
Work on BESS and inverter-based resources, including grid-forming and grid-following controls.
Contribute to data centre and microgrid projects with large-load dynamics.
Prepare technical reports and client-facing engineering deliverables.
