Job summary

Moffatt & Nichol is seeking an Electrical Engineer specializing in power systems to join our MEI team in Long Beach or Costa Mesa. You will design electrical systems for ports, shipyards, marinas, and municipal projects, working with an international MEI team on site and in office locations.

The role requires a California PE or reciprocity within 18 months, 4–8+ years of relevant experience, and proficiency in AutoCAD/Revit.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology; required
• Master's degree; preferred
• Professional Engineer licensure in the State of California or reciprocity within 18 months of hire; required
• 4 to 8+ years of related experience in: medium/low voltage power distribution, grounding, lighting, communications, equipment design, switchgear; power system studies preferred
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit; required
• Proficiency ETAP or EasyPower and AGI32; preferred
• Analytical skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office; report and letter writing and oral communication
• TWIC possession or eligibility
• Background check per NIST 800-171; E-Verify; legal work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Complete electrical designs to support firm-wide projects by working with Project Managers and electrical teammates
• Provide design calculations, design drawings, and project specifications for medium/low voltage systems, grounding, lighting, and more
• Assist with electrical designs for multidiscipline projects
• Assist with evaluations of project scopes, budgets, cost estimates, and schedules
• Travel to sites or meet with clients and utilities to investigate conditions
• Contribute to Quality Assurance and Quality Control processes
• Communicate effectively with internal and external clients and team members
