Job summary

S&C Electric Company, a 100% employee-owned firm, is seeking a summer intern for the Power Systems Control team in Chicago. You will support electrical design, create AutoCAD drawings, and assist with testing, commissioning, and integration of control systems for macro and microgrid projects.

The internship emphasizes hands-on project work, collaboration with seasoned engineers, and exposure to real-world power system controls in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• In-progress degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Excellent problem solving and communication skills.
• Interest in SCADA protocols such as Modbus and DNP3.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret electrical design drawings (one-line, three-line, wiring diagrams).
• Create/update electrical design drawings in AutoCAD.
• Assist with Factory Acceptance Testing and on-site commissioning.
• Collaborate with hardware team on test environments and hardware like relays and controllers.
• Develop communication libraries for GridMaster Microgrid Control System.
• Document engineering work and present findings to stakeholders.
