Job summary

RTX Missiles & Defense is seeking a senior power electronics engineer to chair technical reviews, define strategy across programs, and own cross‑subsystem interfaces. You will drive complex multidisciplinary issue resolution and provide technical governance across partner and supplier efforts.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a Bachelors Degree in STEM and 10+ years of prior relevant experience.
  • 10+ years' experience in power electronics, analog design, mixed-signal design, or high-reliability electronics development.
  • Enterprise / cross-company multidisciplinary architecture development.
  • Proficiency with SPICE simulation, modeling tools, and power/analog design best practices.
  • Experience evaluating platform power requirements for weapon integration.
  • Experiencing building platform roadmaps; evaluating and integrating cutting-edge technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Chair technical reviews and set technical strategy and trade space across programs.
  • Own cross-subsystem interfaces and drive complex multi-disciplinary issue resolution.
  • Provide technical governance and adjudication across partner/supplier efforts; serve as technical authority.
  • Architect high reliability power systems and precision analog subsystems for guidance, navigation, and control electronics.
  • Lead power architecture trade studies, technology evaluations, and down-selections aligned to performance, cost, producibility, and environmental constraints.
  • Assess and address designs with varying design maturity: early concepts, partially complete hardware, and near production configurations.
  • Identify gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities in immature or evolving designs, and mentor teams in closing those gaps.
  • Perform detailed analysis of power system loads, margins, thermal impacts, transient behavior, and electromagnetic compatibility.
  • Guide teams through component selection, derating, survivability requirements, and high‑reliability screening strategies.
  • Participate in and lead engineering reviews, readiness events, risk reduction activities, cross‑disciplinary integration efforts, and failure review boards.
  • Support hardware bring‑up, prototype evaluation, root‑cause analysis, and design refinement.
  • Coordinate with systems engineering, digital design, RF, modeling/simulation, GNC, thermal, and manufacturing disciplines to ensure robust and producible electrical power architectures.
  • Communicate with Chief Engineers, PMs, Technical Fellows, Directors/VPs/Executives.
  • Co‑optimization across electrical, thermal, structural, motor control, and mechanical impacts.
  • Support technology roadmaps and contribute to long‑term capability development across the portfolio, including assessments of various platforms for missile integration.
  • Influence over power architecture for next generation effectors and guidance systems.
  • Technical leadership with visibility across RTX Missiles & Defense.
  • Opportunities for advanced training, career development, and mentorship. Mentors senior talent; investigates, evaluates, troubleshoots, and adjudicates partner/supplier work.
  • Present trade studies to stakeholders as needed.
  • Rapidly learn and apply new technologies; prototypes cutting‑edge solutions.
  • Focus on system trades, quantifiable decision‑making, and mandatory application of real‑world behaviors and military/aerospace specifications.
