Job summary

LCRA is seeking a Substation Electrician to join our Maintenance team in Central Texas. You will install, repair and maintain electrical motors and equipment across power plants, substations, and other facilities, using on-the-job training and certification programs.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience in maintenance/construction of electrical power, transmission, distribution, substation and control equipment, with blueprint reading.
  • Degree in electrical power theory, electronics, instrumentation, controls, industrial maintenance or related field (may substitute as per guidelines).
  • Class A Texas commercial driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Locate and repair failures in electrical circuits and equipment; install test apparatus and solve control system problems.
  • Install and maintain lighting and other electrical equipment at substations, power plants, and other facilities.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and general upkeep of electrical equipment and test gear.
  • Read, interpret and update blueprints and drawings; consult manuals and parts lists to assist in performing work.
  • Operate handheld and power tools in performing electrical tasks.
