Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Hopewell, VA is seeking an Operations Maintenance Coordinator (OMC) to lead maintenance activities, align with production, and drive asset reliability across the plant.

The role focuses on 3-day to 1-year planning horizons, prioritizing backlogs, scheduling shutdowns, and delivering safe, efficient operations while coordinating with maintenance and production teams. You will mentor staff, promote safety culture, and seek opportunities for capital projects.

Qualifications

• Good oral and written communications skills.
• Fundamental understanding of mill processes affecting power and recovery operations with experience.
• Extensive experience with JDE, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Project.
• Familiar with statistical process control.
• Knowledge of maintenance management principles including precision maintenance, Preventative maintenance, root cause failure analysis, shutdown and contingency planning, and computer-based maintenance work systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accident-free safe work environment by managing safety backlog and coordinating shutdowns.
• Coordinate and lead production and maintenance activities to improve reliability and reduce downtime.
• Prioritize and manage the backlog of work orders; schedule daily and weekly tasks.
• Screen and approve all work orders for asset areas; ensure quality and accurate descriptions.
• Serve as project originator for maintenance capital and document with FEP 1.
• Act as a technical resource to solve chronic failures with reliability engineers.
• Plan installation/startup of new equipment to minimize production disruption.
• Develop and maintain on-the-job training materials for department tasks.
• Support quality initiatives to achieve customer satisfaction.
