Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Kansas City, MO is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join project teams on power projects, from concept through design and into construction. You will adapt mechanical plans to budget, design factors, and client needs while coordinating with electrical, structural, and civil engineers.

Responsibilities include mechanical design, producing drawings, selecting components, preparing equipment specifications and data sheets, reviewing vendor drawings, and supporting field

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related ABET-accredited program.
• FE exam passed or EIT preferred.
• MS degree may substitute for 1 year of experience.
• Minimum 3 years mechanical engineering experience, consulting preferred.
• Strong knowledge of standard engineering techniques and procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs mechanical design of projects from concept through design completion.
• Modifies and reviews production drawings for power projects.
• Designs mechanical systems and selects components per project needs.
• Prepares equipment specs, data sheets, RFQs, and bid summaries.
• Reviews vendor drawings and interfaces with suppliers, clients and other disciplines.
• Coordinates with field personnel to resolve design-related installation issues.
• Conducts field inspections, measurements, or calculations for clients.
• Compiles information for client presentations, shop drawing review and contract administration.
