Mortenson is seeking a Project Buyer II to join our Power Team. You will collaborate with project teams and suppliers to purchase materials, equipment, and services while optimizing costs and delivery performance.

The role requires building supplier relationships, negotiating favorable terms, and maintaining procurement logs. A strong background in purchasing, construction processes, and analytics is essential for success in this position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business or related field.
• Minimum 4 years of experience.
• Current driver’s license.
• Knowledge of construction processes, equipment and materials, purchasing processes and procedures.
• Negotiating, organizing, planning, verbal and communication skills.
• Strong customer service and analytical skills.
• Active listening skills and effective communication including openness to diverse input and feedback.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain supplier relationships; solicit bids; analyze quotations; select suppliers; evaluate performance on quality, cost, and delivery.
• Develop profitable purchasing strategies with manager and propose procurement solutions to reduce risk.
• Create and maintain procurement logs for each project.
• Negotiate and prepare purchase agreements and purchase orders; ensure adherence to terms and quality standards.
• Negotiate with suppliers to purchase items and services at favorable prices.
• Analyze markets, manage budgets, and track purchasing trends.
• Track order status from placement to delivery and communicate with project teams.
• Visit project sites to understand challenges and improve procurement processes.
