Job summary

Sigma Technologies is seeking a Utility Field Technician to collect data and document overhead power-distribution infrastructure across Southern Ohio and Eastern Kentucky. This is a field-based role requiring travel, outdoor work year-round, and independent work with minimal supervision.

The position involves driving, terrain navigation, and using maps, GIS-based apps, and data-collection tools to capture accurate pole and equipment information.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Preference for utilities, power distribution, telecommunications, construction, surveying, GIS or field data collection experience.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision and focus on detail.
• Comfort using mobile devices, email, maps and data-collection forms.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field surveys of overhead power-distribution facilities.
• Locate, inspect, photograph, measure and document poles, lines, transformers and related infrastructure.
• Record conditions, attachments, clearances and field factors.
• Use maps, GIS apps and data-collection tools to locate facilities and document information.
• Upload photographs, measurements and field notes to project systems.
• Plan daily routes and manage work across the designated field area.
• Communicate field conditions to project teams and address access concerns.
• Follow safety requirements and perform related duties as assigned.
