Job summary

Sigma Technologies is seeking a Utility Field Technician to collect information and document overhead power-distribution infrastructure across Western West Virginia, Eastern Kentucky, and Southern Ohio. This field-based role requires travel, independent work, and comfort working outdoors year-round.

Ideal candidates have basic data-collection experience or utilities background, and a valid driver's license. A reliable personal vehicle is required; miles reimbursed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior utility, field data collection, GIS, surveying, or inspection experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Comfort with mobile devices, maps, electronic forms, and data-collection apps.
• Must be able to read maps, follow routes, and navigate rural locations.
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and insurance.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field surveys of overhead power-distribution facilities.
• Locate, inspect, photograph, measure, and document poles, lines, transformers, and related infrastructure.
• Record conditions, equipment details, clearances, and field conditions.
• Use maps, GIS-based apps, and data-collection tools to locate facilities.
• Upload photographs, measurements, field notes, and project information.
• Plan daily routes and manage work across the designated field area.
• Communicate field conditions to project teams and address access concerns.
• Follow safety requirements and perform other duties as assigned.
