Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field and 5–8 years of related professional experience.
  • 3+ years hands-on experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI).
  • Experience with data modeling, relational schemas, and enterprise dashboard best practices.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dataverse architecture, relationships, security roles, and business rules.
  • Experience integrating data from multiple sources and translating requirements into analytics, automation, and reporting solutions.

Job description

Job Description: Thompson Gray is seeking a motivated and experienced Power Platform Developer / Solutions Architect to support the U.S. Army in Huntsville, Alabama. This role will support digital business transformation efforts by designing, developing, and sustaining data analytics products, workflow automations, and business applications. The selected candidate will work closely with functional owners, subject matter experts, analysts, and end users to translate business and technical requirements into effective data-driven solutions. The role includes developing applications in Power Apps, automating workflows with Power Automate, and building executive-ready dashboards and reports in Power BI.

Location: Huntsville, AL

Employment Type: Full-time (40 hours/week)

Work Schedule: Full-time on-site (5 days per week)

Telework: May be authorized

Clearance: Must have an active Secret clearance

Travel: Occasional travel may be required.

Position Status: Contingent upon funding approval

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, subject matter experts, analysts, and end users to gather requirements and identify business process improvement opportunities.
  • Design, develop, and maintain Canvas Power Apps, Power Automate flows, and Power BI reports to support mission and business operations.
  • Build data models and visualizations that integrate information from multiple sources and support decision-making at all organizational levels.
  • Perform end-to-end solution development, including requirements gathering, data source identification, data wrangling, data modeling, report development, testing, deployment, and sustainment.
  • Develop dashboards and reports using data visualization best practices to present complex information in a clear and actionable format.
  • Support administration, configuration, maintenance, and sustainment of Army-hosted Power BI and related Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Provide technical and functional support for digital processes, knowledge management solutions, and workflow automation initiatives.
  • Create technical documentation, user guides, and related product documentation.
Position Requirements
  • Clearance: Active DoD Secret security clearance.
  • Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline with 5–8 years of related professional experience.
  • Power Platform Expertise:
    • 3+ years of hands‑on experience developing within the Microsoft Power Platform ecosystem (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI).
    • Proven experience with data modeling, relational schema design, and enterprise dashboard visualization best practices.
    • Practical understanding of Microsoft Dataverse table architecture, relationships, security roles, and business rules.
    • Experience integrating and analyzing data from multiple systems and data sources.
    • Experience translating business and technical requirements into practical analytics, automation, and reporting solutions.
    • Experience with JSON, DAX, SQL, Python, or other advanced data query languages is a plus.
    • Experience with GFEBS and Army financial data is a plus.
  • Desired Skills:
    • Ability to consolidate data from multiple sources and systems to provide tools and dashboards with clear, understandable information for non-technical audiences.
    • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively across technical and functional teams.
    • Ability to support both detailed technical execution and higher-level stakeholder communication.
    • Demonstrated initiative, professionalism, and strong problem‑solving ability.
    • Self‑starter capable of navigating ambiguous customer requirements and driving continuous digital process improvement in an active Army operations environment.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
