Job summary

Burlington Electric Department is seeking an experienced Station Operator to oversee the McNeil Generating Station operations, including wood, oil, and gas firing. You will coordinate plant activities, ensure compliance with environmental permits, and supervise shift personnel while coordinating with engineering and maintenance teams.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or high school diploma with four years vocational or technical training.
• Six years of relevant experience is required with at least five years of power plant operating experience.
• Ability to adapt to a rotating shift schedule and to follow complex instructions.

Responsibilities

• Operates control room equipment for hydro and McNeil Generating Stations and associated systems.
• Monitors station control systems and dispatches corrective action as needed.
• Ensures stations operate within local, state, and federal environmental limits.
• Supervises start-up and shut-down of operations and communicates status to dispatchers.
