Xcel Energy is seeking a Plant Specialist B (1st Year) at Hayden Station in Hayden, Colorado. You will operate, inspect, and maintain boiler and turbine systems, participate in on-site and classroom training, and support control and maintenance staff as needed.

The role requires lifting up to 50 pounds, a valid driver's license, and willingness to work rotating shifts with overtime. Starting pay is $41.78 per hour with comprehensive benefits and relocation options if applicable.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must have passed Edison Electric Institute Power Plant Maintenance and Plant Operator exams.
• Prefer post secondary technical training in a related area.
• Must have valid driver's license.
• Prefer previous experience as an operator in a power plant and familiarity with power generation, but not required.
• Applicant is required to pass Xcel Energy screening including a drug test and security clearance.
• May have to drive off site to assist other plants, mileage reimbursed.

Responsibilities

• Operate, inspect, monitor, and perform minor maintenance on power plant equipment.
• Actively participate in hands-on training, required classroom training, and computer training to learn plant operations.
• Complete Plant Specialist B training for the plant at which the position is located.
• Perform startup, shutdown, equipment tests, and operating adjustments.
• Respond to plant emergencies, unit upsets, and changing operating conditions.
• Work 12-hour rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
