Job summary

Ever-Green Energy seeks a Plant Boiler Operator to rove between Southeast and Main Energy Plants in Minneapolis, MN, operating high‑pressure boilers, turbines, and chillers to provide steam, electricity and chilled water to customers.

The role requires 3+ years in large high‑pressure boiler operations, a Second Class B MN Boiler Engineer’s license, and the ability to coordinate maintenance, train others, and read schematics. Rotating shifts, OT available, union environment.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in a large, high pressure steam heating plant or in high pressure boiler operation.
• Second Class B MN Boiler Engineer’s license.
• Demonstrate ability to coordinate operations and maintenance activities and set and achieve goals with a high degree of self-initiation and independence.
• Ability to work well with others, to communicate clearly both orally and in writing and to direct and/or train others.
• Familiarity with boiler and chiller equipment and their auxiliaries and with all types of maintenance work.
• Computer skills in word processing, spreadsheet, and plant controls applications.
• Able to read, analyze, and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics/blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the operation of high-pressure boilers, turbine generators, gas turbine and chillers to provide steam, electricity and chilled water to the customer in a safe and efficient manner.
• Inspects, operates and adjusts pumps, turbines and equipment associated with safe plant operations.
• Performs boiler and water treatment analyses to ensure efficient plant operations. Makes adjustments as necessary.
• Performs major repairs and maintenance on boilers and auxiliary equipment to prevent shutdown and ensure proper operation in a safe and efficient manner.
• Performs cleaning and minor building maintenance to enhance a safe work environment.
• Trains and instructs new Operating Engineer A’s to convey company policies and procedures.
• Removes fly ash from boilers and hoppers to ensure efficient operation of the boilers and to comply with environmental standards.
• Maintains coal bunker levels, chemical tank levels, and oil tank levels to ensure proper operation of the plant.
• Cleans coal handling systems and other areas as assigned on an ongoing basis to prevent safety and environmental hazards.
